Cistermiser have been manufacturing and supplying a high quality range of products and solutions for the treatment and cost effective management of water for over 30 years.
Product Ranges:
CF Range:
Hydraulic valves: Urinal flush control valves:
The hydraulic valve is an automatic urinal flush control valve. The valve uses a simple patented mechanism which prevents water waste by ensuring that the auto-flush cistern is only filled, and can only flush, when the washroom is used.
IRC Valves: Infrared urinal flush control valve:
The infrared urinal flush control (IRC) valve automatically manages the supply of water to a urinal cistern. The PIR sensor detects movement and activates the solenoid valve allowing water into a urinal cistern.
IR Range:
Easyflush: WC cistern flush valve
Easyflush is easy to install in retrofits or new installations. It can also be supplied complete with its own cistern (please ask for further details). The easyflush no-touch dual flush WC cistern valve promotes best practice in water economy and hygiene in domestic and commercial washrooms.
Direct Flush: Infrared urinal control valve
The direct flush automatically flushes the individual urinal after use, ensuring the highest level of hygiene from the minimum volume of water supplied directly from the mains. direct flush removes the need for the auto-flush cistern and associated plumbing used in traditional urinal installations which flush all urinals intermittently even if they have not all been used.
Infrared Taps: novatap and novaspout
The novatap is a contemporary deck-mounted chrome basin spout with an infrared sensor, control unit and valve integral in its body making it extremely simple to install.
The novaspout is an elegant panel-mounted polished stainless steel basin spout supplied with an infrared sensor control unit and valve.
AV Range: Touch activated washroom water control with no moving parts:
Cistermiser’s AV Range is a specialist vandal-resistant range of touch-activated washroom controls for use in high risk or demanding public environments such as prisons, secure hospitals, schools and sports facilities.
Combimate: Guaranteed prevention of limescale and soft water corrosion
Combimate is a user-friendly domestic limescale prevention device that uses Combiphos.
Washroom Controls: Electronic management system for washrooms
The Cistermiser Washroom Control has been designed as a simple yet effective management system for controlling all primary services within the washroom.
Sensazone: The innovative solution to washroom water wastage
sensazone is an intelligent PIR sensor which controls the water flow to the washroom with solenoid valves.

Cathays High School, Cardiff
November 2011
Cathays High School, Cardiff
Cathays High School is a mixed comprehensive school for 11 to 19 year olds serving the heart of Cardiff. As is the case with many progressive schools, Cathays High elects a School Council made up of elected representatives from all year groups. They meet to discuss and act upon ideas to improve the school. One wish passed on from all age groups was to seek a method of improving the flushing of toilets.
The Project
Research into ways of remedying this problem led to consideration of Cistermiser’s ‘hands free’ flushing system already in successful use in other schools and colleges. Mr Gavin Bryant, the Schools Mechanical Advisory Officer for Cardiff County Council suggested that Cistermiser be invited to demonstrate the Easyflush system and the company immediately sent a team to the school to review the problem at first hand.
The suggestion of using the Cistermiser Easyflush system in the usual ‘wave’ mode, where the user simply passes a hand in front of the infrared sensor to activate a flush was not considered wholly satisfactory. It was felt that this could be easily ignored as with manual flushing, so the team went back to talk to Cistermiser’s R & D Department which was already investigating other methods of flush activation.
The Solution
The need was for a flush system that could be activated automatically without any effort on the part of the user. Cistermiser’s solution was to adopt the Easyflush system but with walkaway operation. Under this new mode of operation a flush is automatically triggered whenever a user gets up or walks away from the toilet. However it can also be activated by the user bringing their hand toward the sensor.
The IR sensors operate on a dual flush system, delivering a part flush if the user leaves within 40 seconds or a full flush if that period is exceeded. The ‘walkaway’ method is simple, hygienic and economical since it restricts water use to a minimum. As a trial the Cistermiser Team fitted four of the cubicles used by the boys with Easyflush valves with walkaway flush activation and it has certainly solved the problem highlighted by the students at Cathays.
The school were particularly pleased with the co-operation and personal service from Cistermiser from the initial contact to the project’s completion. The Easyflush toilets have now been in operation for nearly two years and have resulted in cleaner toilets and a more hygienic environment for the pupils.
Treloar College, Holybourne, Hampshire

Treloar College, Holybourne, Hampshire
Treloar College, for students aged sixteen or over, with physical disabilities, is specially designed not only to educate but also to help these young people to integrate into society. Situated in Holybourne near Alton in Hampshire, Treloar takes students from all over the country and provides a positive, supportive environment in which they can develop as adults.
Students have a wide range of physical conditions including those that have an associated learning difficulty. The college also caters for students with degenerative or life limiting conditions. Many students who come to the college choose to board and because the halls are managed in a number of small units, staff and students have the opportunity to get to know each other well.
There are five halls of residence each with space for about thirty-two students and each hall has its team of highly qualified support staff.
The Project
Brewer House was built in July 2008 and it includes a £3.5million hall with thirty en-suite bedrooms and three communal bathrooms. It was designed by Fleet architectural practice McAllen & Penfold and built by Wilding Butler Construction Ltd of Winchester. Cistermiser worked closely with the architects and assisted with the preparation of the specification to ensure the appropriate user friendly equipment was specified. Cistermiser’s Easyflush system was selected in 16 of the bathrooms.
The Solution
This hands-free system completely eliminates the need to rotate a handle or apply pressure on a button. It has proved immensely popular in situations where elderly or less able people are involved and also in all sorts of public installations for its damage and vandal proof qualities.
Easyflush is a WRAS approved, hygienic and simple-to-use product that employs a single infrared sensor to operate a dual flush WC valve. The user needs only to pass his or her hand in front of the sensor for a part flush or hold it in front for more than a second to obtain a full flush.
A twelve hour hygiene flush is fitted as standard. The system conserves water as much as possible due to its default (programmable) part flush. In the case of the College, savings of 47% are expected both on costs and water consumption. The Easyflush units supplied were installed using battery power which makes them very quick to install and easy to maintain.
McAllen & Penfold then put Cistermiser in touch with Tom Dunsford of Accolade Building Services, who arranged a site visit, so that the optimum positioning of the cisterns to be used could be established. Cistermiser also tested one of the unusually small cisterns in their workshop to ensure that it was fully compatible with the Easyflush system.
This hands-on approach continued even after all the valves were installed. A representative of Cistermiser visited the College’s Facilities Department, gave a short presentation of the Easyflush product and answered questions on a wide range of topics associated with the product. He also left a contact number so that Treloar College could phone him directly if any problems or questions arose. The Easyflush system is operating perfectly and has been greatly appreciated by the students. No direct phone calls have been necessary.
