NEW TROX AIRNAMIC DIFFUSERS DELIVER HIGH LEVELS OF COMFORT
May 2012
NEW TROX AIRNAMIC DIFFUSERS DELIVER HIGH LEVELS OF COMFORT AT HIGH FLOW RATES
New TROX AIRNAMIC swirl diffusers have an extremely quiet air discharge and superior mixing capability, enabling them to fulfil even the highest volume flow rates without compromising comfort standards.
AIRNAMIC swirl diffusers are the result of extensive development work carried out by TROX into the use of new materials. The air diffusers are engineered in high-quality ABS polymer and feature innovative three-dimensionally profiled air control blades, and an acoustically optimised damper. Thermal mixing is superior to other available diffusers, giving even distribution. The pressure drop is also lower. The result is a diffuser which can handle more air, at lower velocity, and reduced temperature differences, to provide excellent levels of comfort in the occupied zone.
AIRNAMIC swirl diffusers provide outstanding performance as an alternative to units currently on the market. And, as more air can be delivered without exceeding the required noise criteria, the diffusers also provide a perfect solution for applications requiring high volume flow rates.
In addition, AIRNAMIC swirl diffusers are suitable for all kinds of ceiling systems, have superior aesthetic impact, and can be painted (or have printed foils applied to the face) to suit the widest range of interior design concepts.
A range of sizes are available to suit the air volume, and all units are flame retardant, meeting the requirements of UL9400.

50TH ANNIVERSARY IN THE UK FOR TROX
TROX UK is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The UK subsidiary company of the TROX Group was established in 1962 and a brand new production facility was built in Thetford in 1971 to meet increasing demand. Today the Thetford factory has become a centre of manufacturing excellence for chilled beams for the group, and TROX is firmly established as a market leader. Its 50th year in business also marks the achievement of an important ambition. With its new X-CUBE central air handling unit now in full-scale production, and will be available in the UK in 2013, TROX has become the only manufacturer in its sector capable of supplying virtually all components required for a complete air conditioning system, from a single source.
“Our 50th Anniversary is a fantastic achievement for everyone who has been involved in TROX’s history” said Managing Director, Ian Sams. “It is a time to remember with pride everything the company has achieved, and an opportunity to look to the future.”
The TROX Group was first established in Germany in 1951 by Heinrich Trox. By the early 60’s, Heinrich Trox’s sons, Heinz and Klaus, had joined the company and embarked on a programme of expansion, with TROX UK becoming the first subsidiary company. Throughout the following decades the TROX Group has continued its process of globalisation, assisted by a steady influx of new products and technology.
Today the TROX Group still remains under family ownership, with Heinz Trox the main share holder. The Group employs 3,300 people in 24 subsidiary companies in 23 countries on five continents. There are 13 TROX production facilities, 25 additional wholly-owned sales offices, and a network of more than 50 importers and representatives. Group turnover showed positive growth during 2011, increasing by 11% from EUR 350 million to about EUR 390 million, putting it ahead of 2008 (a record-breaking year).
The UK operation has also grown, and TROX UK now employs 159 people based at four sites. Many of the company’s staff have devoted their entire careers to working for TROX. The average service across the workforce is eleven years, whilst 22 employees have between 25 and 40 years service, and four employees have worked for TROX for more than 40 years.
The commitment of the TROX Group to its UK operation has continued across five decades. Most recently, a £2.1 million investment programme has been completed, equipping the Thetford factory with two fully-automated Trumpf punch presses which have increased production capacity at the factory by around 60%. Phase 3 of the programme also saw investment of £600,000 in an advanced technology Salvagnini panel bending machine. This enables components for the TROX range of chilled beams to be created in a third of the time, and with even greater repeatability, accuracy and quality.
The regional presence of the company is also growing, with the establishment of regional sales offices in London, Manchester and Scotland.
Ian Sams commented, “Continuity and longevity are important to us, as well as to our customers. The economic climate of the last few years hasn’t made life easy for our industry in the UK and, like many of our peers and customers, we’ve had to restructure to ensure that we can continue to deliver new products, serve customers effectively and be financially robust. That has involved some painful decisions. But the process of restructuring is now complete and, as we embark on our second half century, we are leaner and stronger, and can focus on moving forward. Looking at our industry now, the landscape is very different to it was at the outset of the economic downturn, and there is a greater appreciation than ever before of the benefits delivered by the TROX product range.”
In April 2012 the 159 employees from all four TROX UK sites gathered at the Thetford factory to commemorate this important landmark in the company’s history with a ‘team photo’.
