Realstone Working towards BES 6001 - 2012
April 2012
BES 6001 - 2012
Realstone are currently working towards a BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing accreditation by the end of the year.
breglobal state the Responsible Sourcing is: 'Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products provides a holistic approach to managing a productfrom the point at which a material is mined or harvested in its raw state through manufacture and processing, through use, re-use and recycling, until its final disposal as waste with no further value'
As we all know there is usually always an oportunity for stone to be recycled and therefore should never end up as waste on a tip. Even the processing waste can be crushed for re-cycled aggregate.
At Realstone we recognise our impact on society and try to take these impacts into account positively. We are establishing steakholder meetings and work to ensure that our materials haver the least environmental and social impact as is feasible both socially and economically.
Chelsea 2009
June 2009
James wong and David Cubero have won a Silver Medal at Chelsea on their first attempt !
David Cubero, born in the Canarias, creating this garden has been a true labour of love.
David's mission is to encourage Canarian designers to discover their own unique identity and celebrate their rich local flora and other-worldly landscape.
"Our garden is inspired by the rugged, volcanic landscapes and bizarre, unique flora of the Canary Island Archipelago.
The garden aims to introduce visitors to a forgotten face of the islands, transporting them through steaming thermal spring water, black laval rock and towering palm trees, to experience a glimpse of the unique native flora of this remote island chain."
To achieve this James and David partnered with Realstone who supplied the superb flamed Silver Star Black Bassalt and the stunning cream Portland stonework. Cornish slate in the bottom of the 'thermal rock pools' completed the picture.
