Independent living solutions provider AKW has unveiled its new Larenco shower screens range. Offering a beautiful yet functional solution for everyone, the range has been designed by the market leader to help create an accessible, as well as aspirational, space within the bathroom.


Produced from clear glass and high quality aliminium, the Larenco range is a refined option with a premium chrome finish. Ideal for wet rooms or low level shower trays, the range includes unique features such as a duolinx handle – ensuring total flexibility for the user – while the toughened 6mm glass provides additional safety and peace of mind. In addition, screens are finished with the unique Stay-Clear coating to keep the shower looking like new, providing a cleaner and more hygienic environment with less effort.


The Larenco quadrant screen and tray

The range has been launched with four stylish products to suit multiple requirments; the Larenco Quadrant Screen and Tray, the Larenco Single Sliding Screen, the Larenco Duo and the Larenco Duo Care. Available in a variety of sizes, the specifier or client can choose a product that meets their exact needs. Furthermore, all screens come fitted with magnetic cushion seals as standard, aiding water retention and keeping the area outside the enclosure dry.


With easy sliding doors, the Larenco Quadrant Screen and Tray is designed to fit perfectly in the corner of any bathroom. Its soft curves and minimal aliminium frame creates an impression of refined luxury, while accessories such as grab handles both inside and outside the enclosure, plus a low entry, slip resistant tray, serve an important practical purpose for inclusive solutions.



For those with restricted space, the Larenco Single Sliding Screen is the perfect solution. Compatible with AKW’s highly specified Tuff Form® wet room former and a number of the market leader’s shower trays or tiled floors, it can easily be installed in an alcove and a 20mm profile adjustment on each side allows extra flexibility too.



The Larenco Duo has been inclusively designed with two full height split glass doors, connected by a unique duolinx handle system locking both doors together. This split door option offers a convenient and multi-purpose solution for those who need carer assistance for instance, or can act as a splash guard for parents bathing young children.

Finally the Larenco Duo Care, with a half height shower screen design, provides great accessibility when carer assistance is necessary. With ample space for a shower seat or wheeled shower chair, its sleek and attractive presentation means there is no compromise on style.

AKW BRINGS THREE STYLISH SOLUTIONS TO NAIDEX 2012

With a trio of brand new products on display at Naidex, AKW - the UK’s leading inclusive living solutions provider - is hoping for a hat-trick in the show’s new product awards. Building on the success of its Luda® electric care shower, the company is launching a new stylish version, the LUDA S®, as well as introducing a new inclusively designed shower screens range plus a uniquely designed wet-room former. The company will also be issuing a challenge to visitors to the stand to take on a Paralympian athlete in a virtual cycle race, “Beat Butterworth”.


AKW’s new LUDA S®

At Naidex, AKW will be building on its key messages of life, style and choice, showing a wide range of bathroom and kitchen equipment combining style and function in designs aimed at offering positive home enhancements as well as practical assistance. The stand will include a working model of the new LUDA S® electric care shower which features the LUDA® Sensory Interface, specifically designed to be easy to use and offer complete control over the showering experience. Designed for people with a range of sensory impairments, the LUDA S® combines high-contrast tactile push buttons for temperature and flow control with audio and visual recognition. Newly-developed IQ Smart technology brings a new level of intelligence to the shower’s operation, controlling the water temperature to within plus or minus 1° of the user’s pre-set temperature by analysing the incoming water supply. Constant monitoring and dynamic response to fluctuations in external conditions delivers a stable and reliable output wherever the shower is installed.

Also making its debut is the Larenco range of shower screens, designed to offer flexibility and style for the entire family. Produced from 6mm toughened clear glass and high quality aluminium, the Larenco range comes in a premium chrome finish and consists of a quadrant screen and tray, a single sliding screen and the Larenco Duo and Duo Care. The Duo enclosure has been inclusively designed to offer great flexibility and style for the whole family. It is made up from two full height split glass doors, with the top and bottom connected by the unique Duolinx handle system. The split doors enable carers to assist with showering without getting splashed and a maximum door width entry enclosure enables wheelchair users plenty of space to enter and shower comfortably. In addition all screens are completed with a unique Stay-Clear coating for a cleaner and hygienic finish.


Building on the growing popularity for beautiful wet rooms, AKW has introduced the Linear former, which is designed to bring a modern, stylish look to the wet-room area. A uniquely designed integrated tough waste makes the former easy to fit and requires little sealing. It can be fitted with a long stainless steel linear waste, providing much higher flow rate than a standard circular waste.


Paralympian Jon-Allan Butterworth will be on the AKW stand to sign autographs and set his cycling challenge “Beat Butterworth” to help raise money for Help for Heroes. Considered one of the UK’s brightest Paralympic hopefuls, Jon-Allan athlete has teamed up with AKW to demonstrate that having a disability does not mean you cannot be self-sufficient in the home. He was serving as a weapons technician in Iraq in 2007 when a rocket attack hit Basra Air Station, where he was based. His injuries resulted in his left arm being amputated above the elbow. In the years since, Jon-Allan has trained with the British Cycling team and has set a British record in the 4km Individual Pursuit, a world record in the 1km Time Trial and is the current 1km world champion.
