Prestigious Retail Outlet, Covent Garden, London WC2E 8HA

The Refurbishment of the iconic Retail Outlet saw Drawn Metal design the entrances and screens to the store. Solid brass bars were used to construct the entrance frames and the screens above each door which each set had to be craned into position due to the sheer weight of the brass. The doors had to be specially designed to suit by using stainless steel sub-frames clad in brass with a solid brass glazing bead. Once the doors were fitted, the doors and screens were toned and waxed in Florentine Black. This recently opened Store is currently their largest store in the world.

From start to finish, out total façade solutions make complete commercial sense

Firmly at the forefront of specialist shopfront design and innovation for 85 years
and with a rapidly growing reputation for delivering large scale projects on brief,
on schedule and on budget, DML were the ideal partner to assist O&H Construction Ltd.
in the redevelopment of Walton-on-Thames, one of the most extensive, innovative
and prestigious town centre rebuilding projects recently undertaken in the UK.

Principally commissioned to design, manufacture and install various designs of
aluminium curtain walls forming the main entrance, façades to the gym and the
Debenhams store, along with a feature band interfacing with copings to a brickwork zone above the amenities block and consisting of structural cantilever steelwork around
the building at roof level, providing support for the cladding and the roof ply above,
we were also responsible for the insertion of waterproofing membrane coupled with aluminium pressed nosing and specialist cladding to the underside, all supported by
a bespoke tapering buttress post and collectively creating an attractive feature point
at the front of the building.

The main façade curtain walling included steelwork to support both it and feature pilasters, which themselves incorporated feature stainless steel brackets to facilitate the hanging of
tenants shopfront signage.

The expansive scope of works also extended to external copper cladding with integral
breather membrane, seam formed on-site, ply lined and hung off specialist fixing brackets
to form a striking feature cladding around the curtain walling and shopfronts.

Our expertise proved absolutely invaluable in designing and installing a complicated
bespoke louver enclosure to the rooftop plant room boasting “intrinsic” flexibility to allow
future expansion of plant through the roof. Furthermore DML provided all rooftop balustrading to ensure safe, protected access to the roof and plant area.

Given our proven prowess in delivering projects of this intricacy and scale,
allied to our unsurpassed experience, it’s naturally unsurprising that we remain
