Polypipe Water Management Solutions offer an extensive range of storm water management and sustainable drainage products (SUDS) that include soakaways, stormwater and rainwater attenuation, rainwater harvesting systems. Our SUDS solutions are designed for use in road, rail and commercial development projects including car parks, airports, industrial estates. Our products are fully compliant with SUDS best practice and include:

Attenuation and Soakaway Solutions.
Polystorm modular geocellular attenuation cells are used for the control and management of surface water. There are three types of Polystorm cells which are Polystorm Lite for pedestrian or landscaped areas, plystorm for the attenuation or soakaway of surface water in light trafficked areas and Plustorm Xtra for attenuation or soakaway applications in heavy trafficked areas. The load bearing capacity of these spans from 20 tonnes per square meter to 80 tonnes per square meter.

The Ridgistorm-XL large diameter pipe system in diameters 750mm-2100mm provides a robust, flexible, durable and adaptable solution for attenuation, foul sewer, pipeline and surface water drainage applications. Ridgistorm-XL is designed as a bespoke application for each project and offers the most advanced large diameter plastic pipe solution in the UK.

The Charcon Permavoid geocellular system is designed to provide shallow ground water attenuation or infiltration in place of a traditional sub-base, under paving. Permavoid podium deck is a lightweight modular solution for the provision of storm water drainage and water harvesting within a deck construction.

Rainwater Harvesting.
Rainstream from Polypipe WMS offers a range of highly effective solutions for the storage, filtration and re-use of rainwater. Reducing the demand for treated mains water, the harvested water can be used garden watering, toilet flushing and clothes washing.

Polypipe WMS is in the unique position of being able to offer its customers bespoke fabrications from its highly skilled in-house fabrications team. These fabrications include bespoke manholes, catchpits, specialist bends and fittings.

Surface Water Drainage, Sewer Systems & Cable Protection.
Polypipe Civils website supplies information on the Polypipe range of surface water drainage, sewerage systems and cable protection systems. Ridgidrain surface water structured wall drainage pipes are integrally socketed in diameters 100-600mm. Polysewer and Ridgisewer offer the largest range of pipes and fittings for use in gravity sewers. Polypipe Civils provides a proven tried and tested range of over 1000 products to contractors and ground workers with a complete cable protection system for almost any application.

The rubber seals, available for pipe diameters from 750mm to 1800mm, offer an alternative to Ridgistorm-XL’s patented electro-fusion jointing system.

They are ideally suited for use in drains, sewers and attenuation tanks and on certain projects, can also improve the jointing time for a speedier installation.

The connection method involves the use of two rubber seals inserted into the spigot end of the Ridgistorm-XL pipe, sealing the joint.

In order for the Ridgistorm-XL seals to be WRc approved, the system was tested in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 1277:2003 to ensure that they provided a leak tight connection.

Certification and testing plays a vital role in Polypipe’s product development, as Emma Thompson, Marketing Communications Manager at Polypipe, explains: “As the leading manufacturer of plastic drainage products we invest heavily in product innovation and as part of this continuous development we seek to achieve independent third party accreditation wherever possible.

Polypipe whips up a storm for Nottingham school project

Polypipe, the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic sustainable drainage and water management products, has supplied a bespoke water treatment solution using its Storm X4 Treatment Filter at a school in Nottingham.

Polypipe’s technical team designed the hybrid sustainable drainage system (SuDS) for the school following a request from the Environmental Agency to treat storm water run-off from the site which was draining into a natural aquifer.

A bespoke solution was necessary as the flow of water into the Storm-X4 treatment filter had to be restricted to 24l/s. This was achieved by attenuating the surface water run-off within a holding tank made from Polypipe’s Polystorm modular cells, and restricting the outward flow from the Polystorm tank to the Storm-X4 filter with the use of a Stormcheck Flow Control Chamber.

The Storm-X4 Filtration unit is an advanced four stage filtration system that can separate and remove heavy particles, silt, oil and heavy metal pollutants contained within surface water run-off. Utilised to treat run-off from the car parking area of the school, it will retain and dissolve hydrocarbon contaminants before discharging into the soakaway that drains to the aquifer.
